Emily was originally trained in the Royal Academy of Dance method by renowned teacher Miss Nora Lycette Fearn. In her 20s, Emily encountered the Cecchetti Method at The Studio in Glasgow under the direction of Mrs Maureen Christie MA Dip Ed FISTD, where she gained a sound understanding of the Method as well as valuable performance experience. On returning to the North East of England she took classes with Newcastle-based Cecchetti teachers Professor Ann Loades CBE and Mrs Christine Hully MEd AISTD Dip, with whom she studied for the vocational exams. She finally decided it was time to teach after having her children. Emily holds a first degree from Glasgow University and post-graduate qualifications from Newcastle University. She is fully insured, First Aid trained and CRB-checked and holds the ISTD's Diploma in Dance Instruction to teach Cecchetti Classical Ballet. Emily is the only teacher specialising in the Cecchetti Method on Wearside.
Emily was delighted to be the 2014 recipient of the Nora Roche Scholarship which is awarded by the Cecchetti Society annually to support teachers in their continuing professional development.
